Frances Escoe (1882–1970) was born in Ohio and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Kansas in 1909. She married Wiley T. Escoe and settled in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where she raised her daughters after being widowed. A skilled seamstress and property owner, she supported her family through her own business, acquiring real estate & while remaining active in community life. On April 28, 1928, she became a charter member of Alpha Epsilon Omega Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the sorority’s first graduate chapter in Oklahoma. She died in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1970, remembered as an educated, independent, and pioneering leader.
